M151A2 Seat Questions

Unread post by glcaines » June 8th, 2023, 7:27 pm

Are the right and left seat frames for an M151A2 identical or different. I've read conflicting information on various sites. The right and left seat frames in my A2 are identical. The second question involves the attachment points for the safety strap for the door openings on an A2. Obviously, the front of the strap attaches to the eye-bolt on the dash, but where does the strap attach at the other end?

I am pretty sure the strap attaches to the seat frame, at least that is where mine attaches.

you can see in this picture the steel loop on the seat back, visible through a cut out on the seat back pad. thread the strap through that loop, then clip it to the eye bolt on the dash.

As in the pic that 199th put up the strap attaches to the seat at the loop on the top of the frame. The seats are exactly the same, the drivers seat will have that belt loop on the inside of the seat at the right shoulder. The drivers side did not use a strap.

That explains it, thanks. I didn't know the drivers side didn't use a strap. I saw straps for sale in pairs, so I assumed both sides used a strap, but both seats had the mounting point on the right side.

Yeah, the drivers side has the round panic handle so doesn't need a strap. :P
