Village rally

Unread post by muttguru » June 5th, 2023, 3:20 pm

Some of the shows and rallies here in England were abandoned last year and this year too. However, the small 'Village' shows are going ahead and there's usually a military contingent there as well as farm tractors and steam rollers.

i went along to one show about 25 miles away to see what vehicles turned up The show was held on a couple of fields belonging to a local farmer\\ and although Chipping village is tiny, the show was well-promoted and very well organised.

Here's some of the vehicles I spotted as I walked around.

I'll upload a few more shortly.

Nice, do you have any info on the Tank in the 2nd and 3rd photos, it's unusual to have the drive sprocket at the front.

The Sherman also had the front drive but that is not the profile of a Sherman, More like a Patton. But looking closely it does appear to be a Chaffee.
I am guessing that in the UK you would have to be independently wealthy not only to own the tank but just to feed the damn thing!!!!! I know in England they love to show off these things and drive them around.

That's correct, it's a Chaffee M24 light tank.
German Tiger and Panther also had the front drive.
