hi
yes we use 7 pole at older cars and trailers now we use 13 pole
there a are two types 13 pole
for 13 pole the is a conversion plug to 7 and for 7 to 13
the only thing is you can only use the normal lights no backup light/fog / inner lights for caravan / and battery loading

the combi stop/ direction is not used

first of all we have separated lights for brake and turn signals (red light for brake and yellow for turn signals). Then there is one pin for left rear light and another one for right rear lights. In addition a fog rear light. All of this including ground leads to 7 pins.
The 13 pins have another functions like reversing light and power supply for the trailer.

This is our 7 pin connector. I notice you do not list trailer brakes?

Because in Europe there are no electrical trailer brakes. Only mechanical on smaller trailers.
