Getting some Autumn driving in. It's snowing today, hopefully they don't put any salt down on the side roads.

Not to fear, the picture is from this weekend. Once the salt goes down, no more driving on the roads for the year. Unless of course we get a good rain to wash that stuff away.

Your trees are just about the same stage as mine here in NJ. Mine just dumped all their leaves in the last couple days from the Maples. They were not all that colorful this year due to a fast temperature change this year. Although with that said it was in the 80's the last couple days as I was raking leaves!!! High of 48 today and 28 tonight. Yep, got to love this goofy weather.

we had a fantastic October this year. Yesterday got the M416 out of storage to pick-up the fire wood for this winter.

The colors on the trees here were the best seen recently. It got cold enough to start the leaves changing, but didn't get below freezing until a few days ago. So the leaves just lingered on the trees for most of October...and that all changed yesterday when the snow dumped down accompanied by ice! My be a little rain coming up, so hopefully I can get a few more drives in this year.

I worked with a guy the other day that drove the M151 in the army. First thing he asked was if I had a chain for the steering wheel. :) Sounds like they had a habit of mysteriously moving around by themselves.

Yes, they would liberate themselves if left unattended. Some guys, not saying who, while stationed in Chu Lai S. Vietnam in 1969, had hoofed it to the Main PX about a mile walk from our company area. When leaving the PX a MP 1/4 ton was parked out front and I guess since it was an MP vehicle the driver did not lock the chain to the steering wheel. One of the guys went back into the PX to see where the MPs were and came back out and said they were looking a stereo equipment and probably be there for a while. The ride back to the company area was much quicker than the walk. The motor Sgt. saw the 1/4 ton and since we could always use another vehicle to transport to the flight line, the bumper numbers magically got changed and the MUTT (never called them that or would have know what someone was talking about) joined the motor pool. A couple of months passed and we got word of an IG inspection and the hood and serial numbers would have been checked against the records. The 1/4 ton disappeared the next day and it was thought that it was abandoned along the main service road. When asked, the motor Sgt. said it got sling loaded out over the South China Sea and dropped. No evidence of it ever being with the company. As Sgt. Shultz often commented, I KNOW NUTHIIING!! True story.

It was in mid 50s today, so it was time to take the jeep out for a spin. Luckily there was a bunch of rain last week to wash the salt off the roads. Did about 10 miles down to the town south of here and back. It was nice to get out driving again. Didn't take a picture, but here's one from Autumn heading into one of the state natural areas. Unfortunately no dirt or gravel roads in the county, so this 1/4 mile stretch is what I have to 'play army' with.
