m416 vs M100 wheels

Unread post by Redlight » April 30th, 2024, 5:58 pm

I have a eye on a M100 and a M416 trailer. However they will need to be towed about 100 miles home. When I have retrieved other M416 trailers i bring two spare tires, air compressor, jack and hand tools. Does the m416 wheel fit a M100? Or what size Uhaul trailer hold two trailers. I want to bring back the trailers in one trip. I have a second pickup if needed but that just ads gas money.
Thanks
Bruce

The 416 uses flat bottom lug nuts and the 100 uses tapered lug nuts so the wheels are different. I believe the hole pattern is the same but not positive. I can go out and measure my 100 and 416 tomorrow if you need that info.
If you have enough manpower you can flip one trailer upside down on top of the other one and lash them together. Bring a few 2x4's to put between the beds.

thanks for the reply. i think i could use the existing lug nuts but i will bring a few. I rented a U-Haul for two trailers a few years ago but the ramp was not full width so the would not slide in. Luckily the town had a loader and lifted them over the side into position. i love the idea of stacking them but at 74 i do not have the power to tip them on top of each other.

Hmm. Those two trailers look VERY familiar. Problem is, Mr. Recovery had the benefit of having one trailer there without a tub on it so, 6x10 would be darned near impossible for two trailers with tubs. However, turned sideways, with their tongues in the air, or with tongues removed altogether (or both) that would probably do it very nicely.

Cheers,
TJ

i have owned both types, so i want to remind you that the M100 has one side with right hand thread and one side with left hand thread. the old saying was "tighten to the front, loosen to the rear".

Yea, driving those two pickups at one can be a real chore. But remember, we have AI now so maybe you can get one of the trucks to just follow the other?
I will go out and measure the hole pattern after docs visit this morning.

The M100's wheel is the same as the jeep that was called upon to pull it.

Well, The M38A1 is 5 1/2 on 5 but for some reason I think the 151 is off by just a hair. I will go out and check in just a few minutes.

Both the 100 and the 416 have 5 on 5 1/2 bolt patterns. I actually have the spare tire from my CJ-7 on my M100 trailer. But using a m151 rim may not work on the 100 due to the large hubs on the 100. You are best off taking a spare tire from a Ford pickup for that trailer. Make sure it is an older rim with the 5 on 5 1/2 pattern.
