Spent many of long hours flying on the 135's back and forth to the sandbox. The tankers I've been around had toilets not suction tubes. What unit did the tanker belong to? We always brought sleeping bags to keep warm because they are a cold ride. Box lunches were good if you were starving but most of us brought some sort of snacks. Did you get to see any mid-air refueling actions.

This one came from a guard unit in Pittsburgh, an early 135 without thrust reversers, had a piss tube right behind the cockpit where the radio racks were, and a porta-potty behind a curtain toward the rear. We refueled two flights of A-10's on that trip, one near Syracuse NY and one somewhere over California. The Boomer let me lay out next to him while we did that. it was an interesting trip, on the way back we had a wheel blow out and brake melt when landing at a SAC base in Kansas, fun getting repairs on a sunday lol

Okay, so we are talking about awhile ago. Sounds like it was an A- model which were later converted to R-models. The piss tube was changed to a piss can and with the change to adding womn to aircrews the curtain turned into a door. Now the term SAC, MAC and TAC all changed in the early 90's. SAC and TAC merged to become ACC and MAC changed to AMC. The SAC base in Witchita, (MCConnell AFB), lost it's B1B's during the change over but retained it's KC-135 fleet and fell into AMC possession along with the base. This is the base I retired out of in 2005. DId you get to take any pictures of the A-10's refueling?

No, didn't have a cam with me... there were a lot of other KC-135's at that base in Kansas, which was good for us cause we were able to get the wheel and brakes repaired and continue on our way. I liked the 135 better than the 141 even though we had to carry our O2 bottle around with us on the 135...

Saw in the news this morning that a C-5 lost a couple of tires in the air! They landed in a wooded area and the Air Force is trying to find them. Sure hope there weren't any campers around!
I think some mechanic is in deep doo-doo.

The TIRES, They can't find the tires! I would think a couple of big assed tires traveling at 200 MPH would do enough damage to be visible.

If you are new to the forum and coming into this discussion about "Front Seat Back Cushions" and are scratching your head.....
This is why we got kicked off of G503...or one of the reasons, anyway.
We like to hassle Rick about anything.
We like to hassle SeaBee about his hammer. (we kid him about the only tool the SeeBees needed was a hammer).
We also discovered that Moose will put up with our shenanigans and let us go on, and on about nothing in particular.
We don't hassle Cobra because he will fly over our house in a black helicopter and drop "who knows what" on us.
Raymond is indeed a gentleman, scholar and he has a fine taste in wine, women and liquor, and he's a connoisseur of feminine pulchritude. And he has the coolest avatar in the world.
Rainman uses big words with more than four letters in them and is proud of the 1st Cav
Baios is our Greek buddy who actually drives his MUTT when his new wife lets him out of the house.

And Ralph has the largest picture library of anyone I know. Lest we not forget Toptiger who has a penchant for getting the coordinates of your house and threatening to fly over and lift your mutt!

If you are at a show and you find that Rainman is there hide your wife or girlfriend!!!!    He is our resident bachelor/hound.

There are many other misfits and miscreants on here. Join in the fun.

You know Ralph and Rickf, maybe we should post your last comments at the start of the topics, as sorta an introduction to the G838.......a warning !!!!! Post at your own risk. Use may be dangerous to your health, if continued . Flashbacks will occur with out warning. Mayday...mayday. Or something like this. Just a thought. Seabee
