Steel Soldiers Rally in Virginia

Unread post by rickf » September 9th, 2009, 7:39 pm

Got back on Monday evening from the rally in Virginia. We need more 151's next year! The weather was perfect. The trails were fantastic. the people were great! And anyone who has ever eaten Cabell Garbee's southern barbecue pork at Aberdeen will know how the cookout was. I will put up some pictures a little at a time since it is not that easy to put up a lot of pictures on here at once.

Here is a link to some more pictures from the rally. Even a dog we rescued and returned to the owner.

looks like you had a great time, thanks for the picture. We have planned a convoy and overnight this Oct. at the VFW Lake /woods, with our SEMO Military Vehicle group. I bought a travel cook/galley unit for these group trips, and with a good fire, should have a good breakfast. Pictures will be coming. Seabee

Did anyone else wonder how he kept his wife in the back seat all the time?
I guess she was providing instruction.

Hey Top, you must have been out of the states too long. There is now a steering wheel in the back seat, since that's where the people that know how to drive always sit.
Rick, I too could almost smell the bacon and the coffee, but I was overwhelmed with that tub of "tidy cat" in the bed of the truck. Pork, you told me it was turkey at Aberdeen, WTF? :) And your camp site had a view of a backhoe and/or farm machinery :?: . Bet you hand picked that view yourself. What gear heads find beautiful is sometimes different than their peers. Personally I like that view myself. :) Sure looks like a good time to me!

Sorry, You got me there, A couple of years ago it was pork at Aberdeen. As far as the Tidycat container, I get them from a guard at work. They are real handy parts holders. Believe me, a cat would not last long at home with my dog!
The missus was in the back seat because I had a Steel Soldier member riding shotgun on that trail ride and he was jumping out snapping pictures. The one that was out of focus was the one he slipped on a rock in the stream and almost ended up real wet. The wife was happier back there where she was not looking straight down the side of the mountain on some of the more narrow trails!
