Nice M79 David. Is it 37 or 40mm and what manufacturer? I also have an M79. 40mm and a blast to shoot. Looks as if you are shooting trap with yours. I bet that raised a lot of eyebrows at the range.

It's a registered 40mm manufactured by TRW.ltsimp wrote:Nice M79 David. Is it 37 or 40mm and what manufacturer? I also have an M79. 40mm and a blast to shoot. Looks as if you are shooting trap with yours. I bet that raised a lot of eyebrows at the range.

A local gun store sells the chalk marking rounds (used for training) for around $20.00 a round new mfg. The only other rounds that I know are available are the buckshot round and the flare round. not sure if the HE rounds are available or not.rickf wrote:JEEZ, I can just imagine trying to get one of them in NJ! Have you heard of Randy Shivik "Mr. 40 mm"? He does a lot with the bloop tubes.

I generally buy new manufactured chalk rnds by the case of 100 and that's generally $500. You can reload, buut since I rarely get to go shooting these days, the ammo lasts a while. There's also buckshot, flechette, gas, flares, etc etc rounds for them. I have a few buckshot and flechette rounds, but at about $60 a pop I pretty much dont shoot them. There's also subcal adapters for them that allow you to use any wide range of 12ga or 20 ga shotgun ammo.rickf wrote:JEEZ, I can just imagine trying to get one of them in NJ! Probably one of the more unique rounds is the beehive round which is generally anywhere from 7-15 22LR cartridges placed into a device which when placed into the grenade launcher fires all 7-15 .22LR rounds at one time.
HE rounds typically are never found for sale. To much liability if sold to the general public, plus you have to meet ATF explosive storage requirement etc.
Ive heard of Randy, but never purchased or directly discussed anything with him.WC Matt wrote:A local gun store sells the chalk marking rounds (used for training) for around $20.00 a round new mfg. Not sure Tim, but that dry cleaner van parked across the street just won't leave the neighborhood.
