Replacing from and rear suspension bushings
How hard is it to press out the bushings on the front and rear suspension arms. The rubber on my suspension arms have cracking on what is exposed. I would like to replace the bushings during reassembly.
Re: Replacing from and rear suspension bushings
It is a pain but it can be done.
The hardest part is getting the old ones out.
You have to disassemble the front suspension and remove the A-arms.
You can find the disassemble instructions in manuals listed here: http://www.g838.org/added_pages/manuals.html
Make sure you put penetrating oil on the castle nuts and let it soak in before to try to remove them!
I drilled out the rubber and then used a thin hacksaw blade to score the outer metal sleeve.
I then used a small cold chisel and hammer to tap the sleeve out.
I found that you do not need a press to put the new ones in.
I did it used some plumbing fittings, bench vice & 2armed gear puller.
Hope this will help!
