Wrench Sizes

Unread post by 42GPW » December 11th, 2009, 9:57 am

What are the standard wrench sizes used on the 151. Im going to put together a larger BII kit for my own emergency kit. To include jack and lugwrench.

A standard set of combination wrenches in 1/8 inch increments from 5/16 to 3/4 inch will cover just about anything on the truck. I also like a good interchangeable head screw driver, crescent wrench, pliers, vice grips, needle nose pliers, plug wrench, and the military drain plug wrench for the trans and diffs. The last is usually not necessary for any repairs, but it is good to keep in the tool box so you always know where it is when it is time to check the gear boxes or drain them.

I would think a few wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers would be enough in case you break down. If you need bigger tools your probably going to be needing a tow truck.

A socket wrench kit, ring spanner set, open spanner set and a set of screwdrivers is all you need in the tool box, with a couple of pliers, at least that's what i have keep. All metric. The smallest bolt i've encountered on the mutt is 10mm which is for the distributor while the biggest is on the diff 32mm or something like that.
