During the time period on Friday that I had available the rain was torrential. I had hoped to meet Rainman and the other G members present but figured they'd be holed up somewhere to get out of the rain and i'd never find them. the vendors would've had to pull in their stuff and it wouldn't have been conducive to pictures either so i abandoned my plans for this year....

Re: Who is going to Gilbert(Red Ball)???
I took no pictures on Friday because I did not have an underwater camera! The rain came and went but remember, a lot of the guys there are old VN vets. Rain? Whats that? The fact that it was warm made the rain bearable so everyone was walking, well slipping and sliding, in the mud. There was more than one comparison made between the Pennsylvania grease that passed as mud and the stuff in Vietnam. Both are red and both are slippery. There were vendor trucks getting stuck all over, you didn't sink, you just sat on top of the mud and spun. Saturday was much better and there were a lot of really good deals.

OK, Here is a link to Photobucket with pictures. I have not had time to add captions but you will get the idea. The lone M-151 there was TJ's aka Jerseyjeeper with his 718. He yelled at me for taking pic's before he was set up. Sorry TJ. It was the only chance I had. The FAV is Kevin Hess's and it is NICE!!!! That is my idea of a FAV. I raced a Chenowith 2 years in the Baja 1000 and there are a lot of similarities. I got out to the display area an hour after the judging and a lot of the vehicles were gone so I missed a lot of picture opportunities but it was just so much fum walking around in the mud. For those who have never been there it is not as bad as it sounds, the fairgrounds are really nice and there are paved roads all through the area. It was the field at the far end where Carnac and Jtonka from Steel Soldiers was set up, the camping area where I was and anywhere else at the vendors sites of the pavement that was muddy. By Saturday lunchtime they were bringing in straw to spread at the sites and it got a little better. People were very well behaved with vehicles and did not tear things up. Jtonka backed into his spot with his 4X4 pickup and was stuck as soon as the tires cleared the pavement! You didn't sink, just spun on the surface. It was that slimy!!! The Vietnam hootch was Mike Davidson, aka Maddawg on SS. And yes, that was where he slept. That was him in the full gear with the M-60. I was going to join him in the walk around but I had my OD pants, jungle boots, brain bucket but I can't find my damn OD shirt!
