It has been done but I see a couple problems. The output of the mp3 player will have to be amplified somehow or the speaker will have to be changed. And remember that the speaker on these things was barely audible at best in service so would not sound like much of anything to todays crowd. I have pointed this out in the past and will continue to do so until the day I die, the stuff that a lot of people put on these radios when they do this can be VERY disturbing to some vets . There are certain times I hear these radio recordings of people screaming for help or fire support and I have to get away from it.

If you are doing it via an AM-2060 base you could likely use it's amplifier.

Murphy has the cables here: http://www.murphyjunk.net/u-s-issue-com ... ted-items/ about 1/3 of the way down the page. I have done something similar using a custom cable for my LS-671 speaker in my deuce to listen to tunes with my regular radio headset while rolling down the highway. (Helps keep you from over analyzing every creak and squeak the deuce makes at 55 MPH)

Well, I thought I would chime in on this one...
I had bought an old Vietnam radio set about 20 years ago at a surplus store that didn't work, looked good, but didn't work. I knew a buddy from trade school who made a 12V power supply and also changed out the crystals to FM radio, and installed an internal speaker of some kind.
I could not believe how cool that was, but he talked me out of it way back when after he got it working. It was tune-able to regular FM radio stuff and was just awesome.
Has anyone else ever done anything like that, just to get some tunes going in a display radio??

I put a so-called remote radio inside a RT524,I think the speaker LS454 worked ok with the radio volume.when I get home I'll look up the radio model but it cost alot of money.

PS the radio worked from a remote

Did a quick search here and did not see it previously posted. I know this is dredging up an old post but I saw this on youtube and thought others who don't know much about comms may be interested in this method...

Playing music/playlists cheaply through a working radio setup-

May be hard to find the old radio shack setup but maybe something else similar on that frequency can be used.

Simple solution, buy a bluetooth speaker, something like a:

JBL http://www.verizonwireless.com/accessor ... 0159037324

Thing sounds great, Stream your music from your phone, mp3, pandora, whatever. Just sit the speaker under the seat. Then you can take it anywhere else you want good tunes.

100 bucks for a speaker the size of the I pod! It better sound great!!!!! Problem is that I would lose it in ten minutes or as soon as the battery went dead and I could not play it to find it.

I used an external speaker on my PRC 77 - the speaker you see on eBay for about $40 that has a plug that fits the 77. I found the sound I wanted on You Tube, dubbed it over to an I-pod. Then plugged the I-pod through a battery to give it a boost into the speaker. The ipod, battery and connecting cable are camouflaged in an ammo pouch I lay next to the speaker. I loop the sound so it plays for hours when I'm sitting at a car show or somewhere. System works well for me - just have to remember to charge the ipod and battery between shows! And, using the Ipod, you can stash anything in there - like Christmas music for Christmas parades.
