Starting Restoration on M151 106mm Rifle Carrier
Just starting a restoration on a M151 106mm Rifle Carrier and picked up one of the major pieces this past weekend, well it was delivered to me finally. I have a live M8C spotter to go on her. I've seen a few pictures of rifle mutts in Vietnam and I'm thinking that the rifle should be named.... I'm thinking "Slope Slayer"

Look forward to following the progress of this resto. Always had a "thing" for the rifle carriers.

Very cool.
But if I were you, I might re-think the name if you're actually going to paint it on the rifle. Could be offensive to some folks. Not to me, but to some, I'm sure.

I agree with Dan, that might be pushing the envelope.

Was thinking the same as the others but didn't want to see the thread go off in that direction. How about "Cong Crusher" or "Ho Chi's headache"?

Re: Starting Restoration on M151 106mm Rifle Carrier
Thanks for the suggestion and comments regarding the name, still thinking about it. I'm still gathering parts and pieces for the M151 and any help would be greatly appreciated. I had a mule with a 106 on it a while back, I'm now wanting to do a vehicle that I can actually drive instead of sitting in the garage.
Any help on parts would be greatly appreciated!

We had Sat Cong painted under the fuselage of one of ships, forgot about that, mainly because one day it flew near the plywood pentagon {Long Bihn- USA HEADQUARTERS} and someone was offended, Really! Offended by F U k cong. They called our BN co {a pssy punching his ticket for General Officer rank} who commanded us to remove it asap.
I don't recall Line Loi, Jim, but Sin Loi. Meaning 'sorry about that' especially sarcastic term ssaid outloud after blowing up something or shooting something.

For some reason I thought you already had the jeep on hand and were adding the "rifle kit" to it. In the second to last pic you posted, what is that "thing" sitting in front of the M38A1 (looks like armor)?

Re: Starting Restoration on M151 106mm Rifle Carrier
For the name... my vote is not putting a name there at all. To me the barrel of that weapon says enough. For sure the first recommendation suggested would be inappropriate... this is 2013 and there's no clear rationale that can justify racism. It would be different (perhaps) if you sanded the barrel down and that was what was present but even then I'd just photograph it and talk to what was there, with friends and with folks at shows, versus painting it for all to see. Your Jeep though and its a free country.
