NOS M151A2 Replacement Body

Unread post by Brian Emry » February 9th, 2014, 9:05 pm

I own one of the last NOS M151-A2 replacement bodies on the plant. Originally I had two. The other one was sold to a New Zealand collector. He wasn't sure if he was going to use it to replace the body of a rusty M151-A2 or keep it as a very rare and desirable NOS part.

I would like to sell the remaining one to fund some other projects. I may be open to a trade it for complete and running M151-A2.

If you are interested I can send you pictures. Email your questions and concerns and a contact phone number.

Brian

I have a running and driving M151A2 that would need some body work (a few dents and dings and some rust repair done on the bottom) that I'd be interested in a trade for if you are located in the USA. Id do the NOS body plus cash for the M151A2.

Let me know.

It would all depend on who's in the market for one. If it's an NOS body, it still need everything else to complete. Someone that has a rusted out M151A2 might be interested in using it as a body to transfer all the parts to have a nice restored A2. I personally think a earlier contract A2 body (let's assume same condition) would be more desirable due to the later ones being cheaper made (thinner steel, welding not as nice etc). Dont' get me wrong though, a NOS body is very nice but in my book, maybe 4-7K depending on condition b/c you still have to either all the other parts or remove and install them on the other body which is expensive if you consider the time it takes.

Guys,

Sorry I've been out of touch. I'm located in Northern California. The body came with a story. The story goes that in the 90's the USMC needed to replace a large number of M152A2's that had become unusable because of serious rust in the frame. New MUTT'S would require an act of Congress (an appropriations bill). Replacement bodies would be an ordinary parts purchase. AM General (?) produced about 150 units (?). A few went unused. This one made it through DRMO.

I haven't figured out how to post pictures on this site, maybe someone can send me a PM and let me in on the secret. I've got all the pictures you need.

Thanks,
Brian

Rainman,

Thanks for the Photo Bucket link and a special thanks to Ralph for the link data and most importantly, the step by step instructions.

I managed to post 4 out of 5 pictures!

I spent some time on the Restoration Page. Looks like I need to get serious and buy a new welder, a Gas Mig. And get to practicing my welding on these M38A1'bodies before I even think of moving to an M151! It was inspiring to see what some of your members have brought back from the dead.

It would be appropriate to post a price. You said sell or trade so put a sale price up so people know what range you are looking at.
