1971 M151A2 Ford repaint
Earlier this year I bought a 1971 Ford Contract M151A2 from halftracknut on here, btw hes a great guy and very honest. It was a beautiful unmolested jeep, I wanted to do a repaint on it and learn more about the jeeps history, units etc. I did discover come other than normal tire pressure markings as well as the check batteries daily and unit numbers that were too far gone to recover its history. I added the odd tire pressure markings to it when i ordered decals, and changed the unit info to be the hmmwv that is assigned to me in the national guard. The following photos are of my repaint and decals.

Your Jeep looks Great! I am glad you decided not to drill all those holes for a radio set up in that beautiful body...Now that is a head turner!

That's a sharp looking truck. Great paint job!

Beautiful, you should be proud!
Re: 1971 M151A2 Ford repaint
Thank you! I have decided to hold off on the radio setup for now. I have everything to get it completly operational, except the radio itself. Ive only ever painted one other vehicle prior to this, but it was my M35A2, so it was ALOT of practice, lol.
Re: 1971 M151A2 Ford repaint
Very nice job. You might consider something other than hard-mounted radios. AN/PRC-77 Portable Transceivers are still out there to be had. I've seen some lovely jobs where they have been gutted and had an AM/FM/CD player installed and set up to accept input from an IPod. The unit looks like someone just threw it in the truck but it's secretly plugged into the truck. I have one for that very purpose but have yet to plumb it. Play music or audio clips like the one I have of OH 1 Bird Dog driver directing fire on enemy positions. So, you can bring your vehicle display to life without having all the extra gear taking up valuable space in your truck.

Re: 1971 M151A2 Ford repaint
My fenders have the holes for a radio and it would have been a pain to weld them up and a permanent radio set up is just way too pricy. I'm going to just hang my PRC77 on the passenger seat.

I've got a 1956 320 S JD, a 1956 420 S JD and a 1949 Farmall Cub. At one time we also had a 1958 420 W JD, and a 1956 420 T JDrickf wrote:Those John Deere's in the background bring back memories.
The Cub is the only original tractor to our farm, bought in1950 new with all attachments by my great grand dad and has never left our farm.
Re: 1971 M151A2 Ford repaint
Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I have absolutely fallen in love with these jeeps. I pulled the valve cover on it this week and clean and stripped it and painted it black. the gasket was leaking just a tad at the front of the motor. This was literally the only mechanical issue that I can try to point a finger at. But I want to, at some point down the road, pull the power pack and give it a clean new paint job at well, but for not its fine with me. Ill put photos up of the cover when I get a chance.

I think I have seen that decal available somewhere if you really want it to be original.

But you'll have to put it on there crocked to look original.
