Ford XM-408 3/4 Ton 6X6 Utility Truck Restoration Project

Unread post by Cobra5 » April 21st, 2015, 3:41 pm

Okay I just cut and pasted the title off e-bay. I don't know if this is rare or what but sometimes the diamond in a goats butt are just pieces of the glass bottle he ate.

looks like a good collection of wrong parts to me. Willys Jeep transmission and steering shaft, just to name 2.

Straight 151 body and windshield, seat out of ?, leaf springs with no eyes? Full slipper springs? How are they locating the rear axles? Also the cover plate for an A2 windshield.
Should be an interesting build. No rears so that will be interesting also.

I wonder if that is the same one that is now for sale? Looks like some of the same stuff in the same condition. Maybe he found a house and gave up on the project?

Looks like a TON of love needed (or in this case a 3/4 Ton of love)...

I'm still pondering Cobra5's outstanding words of wisdom.... That's real deep.....

You don't have to tell her anything. At least you did not buy another car. Just a bunch of boxes with different parts.

Tell her to look on the bright side as she'll know exactly where you will be for the next few years. Putting that jig saw puzzle back together.

Rickf,
I heard this term describing a vehicle in rough condition that could be turned around. I thought I'd better keep it to a "G" rating by using the word 'butt' because there is a Seabee in the mix and I didn't want to corrupt his innocence with such a vulgar word.    The glass bits was just me adding philosophical terminology to it.

I would suggest to invite her to the finest restaurant for the best dinner she ever had. And than tell her that you'll spend the next months or years in your garage and on the Internet.

How do "I" tell "my" wife that "you" bought it? Easy, Hey dear, look at what this idiot bought!

That way, from now on whenever I need something, I can refer to you and I am good to go at your expense.
