that is a weird looking gusset right were the front crossmember (under the radiator) is running. Somebody tried to repair the frame?

Grille (brush guard) is modified in the SAS style?

1942 GPW. The frame is TOAST. It has had all sorts welded to it, all over it, including dualing the front and rear wheels by (get this!) welding the inner and outer wheels together. It's a real WWII Mad Max vehicle!

...annnnd.....the story of how I discovered and came to acquire this little freak of nature is an epic one.
