Picked up a M-416.....
I scored a M-416 Trailer this past weekend for over half of what I have seen them going for lately.... It is in very good condition . Needs some work but mostly just replacing the civy lights on it and putting the military ones back on...It is 67 dated and was manufactured by Stevens. It has USMC markings underneath the outer most layer of paint. I have no idea if they are original to the trailer or not. Either way its going to get stripped and repainted as an Army trailer to go along with my M-151. I will have to find out what the Army number would have been for it for when i stencil it up...Anyway here are a few pics....

That is original USMC, Hard to find them and that one is pristine! And straight!!! Good find. The Marine versions had the lifting brackets under the box.

Re: Picked up a M-416.....
Thanks for the info....I did not know what the difference was between the Army and the Marine versions.....I just happened to stumble across it on Saturday and the guy did not want much for it so I jumped on it because it was in such good condition....rickf wrote:That is original USMC, Hard to find them and that one is pristine! Being as it was born Marine, are you still going to change its 'gender identity' to army?
Some people are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything
Re: Picked up a M-416.....
Unfortunately my 151 is a Army one and for the time being it will be a Army Trailer. I have taken detailed photos of all the markings that I can see and I uncover so at some future point it becomes a Marine trailer again I can mark it up with its original markings.fergrn37 wrote:Being as it was born Marine, are you still going to change its 'gender identity' to army?
I did uncover these unit markings today. Not 100% sure what unit they are for at the moment....

Re: Picked up a M-416.....
In its current state it is a very nice "Original" trailer. Once you change it the "Originality" will be gone. Just a thought.

In its current state it is a very nice "Original" trailer with the exception of the lights.

If the data plate has M416B1 that is a USMC one originally for the M422A1. Genuine M416B1 trailers are quite rare only 2000 were made for the Corps for the 32~3900 or so Mitey Mites (published number varies).

Re: Picked up a M-416.....
Yea, I was aware of the 416B1 trailers being rare. It had a regular M416 dataplate on it for Stevens Mfg. I replaced with a new plate but could not find a Stevens plate that was not a B1 plate.Still looking for a new Stevens plate that is for a regular 416 like the original one that was on it...Shotgun wrote:If the data plate has M416B1 that is a USMC one originally for the M422A1.
