The CJ5 (before AMC bought the Jeep name) did use the same model differentials and engine. The only other engine the Kaiser CJ5 came stock with was a Buick Dauntless V6, but that was in the 60s and kind of uncommon. The M38A1 differentials, t-case, transmission, and engine had a few casting differences but are interchangeable if you are not too concerned about originality. Other than those differences and the body differences, the biggest difference between the CJ5 and M38A1 was the electrical system. On a side note, the two jeeps did use different steering components but again, they are interchangeable.

I finally found time to pull out the imposter today, cut the rest of the rusty metal out of it, I think I got more done when I had a full time job. I wish I was as fast as Vin, looks like Guy and I are running a tight race, I actually been spending most of my time on the M211.

14 gauge = boiler plate in our line of business. If you didn't spend every cent you had on junkers you would be able to buy more 023 wire.
