Early M151 Front Bumper to CMD Parts List

Unread post by lpcoating » September 20th, 2016, 8:12 pm

I was sent an early M151 front bumper. I will post some pictures to verify by the experts that it is early M151- I do not know. It's a little bent up and I'm having it straightened up some. I have not had many request for the early stuff but this is easy enough that I'll make a few. Will post some pictures and would be interested in verification of what it is and if anyone is interested.

I thought the early bumper was much wider front to back with the top being wider than the bottom? Wider than the later A1 bumpers.

Not sure if original to mine and bent up a little but a quick measure gives approximately...

46" long
3-1/4" high
2" wide on top
1-3/4" wide on bottom
Side Chamfer is 1-1/2" in on backside.

There shouldn't be any holes in the front surface. mine is in storage but I could go take the measurements if needed but, they should be as Surveyor has posted.
some old photos of my early and a A-1 bumper.

Going to make some of the early bumpers. Here we go again! The bumper I was sent has the same length bends top and bottom. They measure 1.850". The face is 3" wide and the length is 45.875". All dimensions are outside. Several of you have stated different bend lengths top and bottom. As I was requested to copy what was sent to me, I'll do. So, anyone know why the difference in dimensions?

Guy; If you can give me until middle of next week, I can take some photos of mine, it was a NOS one that was used when I restored my 62 M151. It is 1 degree here this morning in Kansas, plus my storage building is on the farm and it is 17 miles from the house. It is supposed to warm up next week, and I will be going to the farm, I can take a bunch of pictures showing with a ruler what all the dimensions are. Larry

Well when I was a youngster................... We used to have to walk to school in those temps! (That is the honest part!) Uphill in the snow for at least 15 miles. ( A little bit of a fib there, level ground and a mile and a half) All this being said by the guy sitting in front of the wood stove with NO intentions of going out in the 18 degree weather right now.

Thank Larry. At some point I'd like to know what the one we copied is from so I can advertise it accurately.
