51R batteries are a good current battery.
A premium battery is the Optima D51R: but much more.

Mr. Recovery, Home run....bought mine from the wall mart....they are a bit larger than uncle sams so I put a piecs of rubber sheet on top and tucked it in around the sides....you could use a cheap auto floor mat from the wall would give same result...also if they want to slide around a couple of 2x 4 blocks will stop that.....also while batts are out clean and paint box with pour 15 is a good idea....or call Fil for a new and may I say excellent batt box floor....HTN

Batteries Plus, the retail battery for everything store, has the original 2HN batteries in their catalog. The batteries are current production, in the US, for a Department of Defense contract. Most likely they are part of military sales and assistance for those countries that still have M-151's. Kevin.

And for the MEP-002 gen sets.

I am getting away from the Batteries plus batteries which are Rayovac for the most part since I have had a lot of low power and longevity issues with them in my regular vehicles. I have used a LOT of them over the years since I was able to get a good deal on them through work but they just do not seem to hold up as well as the Wal-Mart batteries which used to be Exide, not sure if they still are. And the price has gone up quite a bit on the Batteries Plus stuff even with my discount.

Interesting, never saw a D16 before. I would worry about the terminal being so close to the cover. Even with a rubber mat it could wear through and ZAP, all the magic smoke comes out, Along with some molten metal and flames!

See those rusty wires on those cables? Not good. I'm not flaming Dan and I'm sure Dan already knows this and just didn't take the time to deal with it. But, for the newbies who are following along, current runs on the OUTSIDE of of those wires, not through them. Corroded cables inhibit the flow of electrical current. So even with the cleanest battery terminals in the world, corroded wires are going to be trouble. Ask me how I know.

Something else that makes a great insulator for the tops of those batteries are those cheap dollar store cutting mats (cutting board material that's really thin). They take up very little space and will flex nicely to fit inside the battery cover. Ask my wife how I know.

TIMOTHY JOHN SMITH !! WHERE ARE MY CUTTING MATTS ?!!

(I know I'm in trouble when she uses my whole name.)

That site is apparently down now and I can't get back on but I believe they were AGM batteries and if so that is a really good price for them. The average price for ANY automotive battery nowadays is 110.00 no matter what size you are looking for. The days of 60.00 batteries are long gone.

That pprice is a steal for AGM batteries!
Paid over $165.00 for them on ebay and that was a deal.
The higher capacity no acid to spill and much better life makes them a good deal
