If you want to have some fun try installng the fuel and vent lines on the drivers side after the harness and heater duct are in place.

Re: My new M151A2
Some more fun work. The lights on mine were all rotten inside. By chance I got a big box of used lights. So I started to put them together.

Re: My new M151A2
Also, I will fill the brake lines tomorrow. I am still unsure what fluid to use. I read on the forum that fluids should not be mixed. Normally I use DOT 3 on the vintage cars. The A2 has been drained completly. So now I could use anything. Is there a technical advantage of the mil spec silicone? Or can I just use anything?

Re: My new M151A2
Use whatever fluid you like but just be sure to mark it so it does not get mixed up later. The 151 would have had the silicone in the military service but there is no real advantage to it other than the fact it is twice the price of DOT 3 and harder to find. When you say completely drained have the wheel cylinders been removed and taken apart? If not then they will still be full since the fill and bleed are both on top of the cylinder.

Re: My new M151A2
I changed the wheel cylinders and the main cylinder. All the lines exept the one that runs from front to back are also new. So maybe there is still a drop or 2 in that line. I didn´t blew it with air.
But I can also use the silicone just to keep the proper "military" procedure...

That drop or two will not make any difference especially by the time you are dome bleeding the brakes. Personally I go with DOT 3 due to the expense of DOT 5. And the easy availability of DOT 3 if I need it on the road.

Re: My new M151A2
I don't know when the last time you looked was, but DOT 5 is now available at most of the big name auto parts stores for nearly the same price as DOT 3 and it's not like we need to buy gallons of the stuff.
Every one of these DOTs have their own set of drawbacks. Whatever moisture that manages to get in a system with DOT 5 (with DOT 5 being absolutely NON hydroscopic...i.e it won't mix with water) that moisture will find a corner of the system somewhere where it will do its damage. The big benefit of DOT 5 is it won't damage your paint if you spill it.
Cheers,
TJ

Re: My new M151A2
O.K. that is good to know. I still have a big canister of DOT 3. So I will simply use that.

Re: My new M151A2
Has been a while since I worked on the project due to work. Now back in the game and it is practically put together. First test run was 2 days agon and it started without a problem.
Still runnig a little rough and needs some fine tuning on the valves. Very happy that ist started since I had everything apart.
Now do dome last wiring stuff and then off to make the street registration.

Re: My new M151A2
And some markings to the very end. I am lucky to have some original stencil machines. so I made the stencils that I could find on period pictures.
My motto was: less is more
So instead of overmarking I did the most common.

Now you need the brush guard for the AB15 antenna mount.
