I just edited my post to George asking if Reomie had more of those coils made and at better quality. Even the Chinese have to be smart enough to realize that they will not sell any more if they are total junk and they better step up their quality.

Ah, all is clear now. And NOW I know where all those A2 shocks came from. They seem to be drying up again but if he had that many made then I would guess the dealers are hording them to drive up the prices. Then again, that is only 600 sets of shocks so it is believable that they may all be gone by now. I did not know that the two were related.

Okay so am I interpreting the thread correctly that the new and properly made coils are available through Red River? .

I think we are waiting on Hambone to verify that. They are still Chinese from what I understand but better quality. The Chinese are quite capable of making high quality parts IF they want to. They just have to pay their workers a $1.00 a day instead of $.50. Keep your fingers crossed.

He has them but I didn't get one, was running short on cash :( , had to pick up a few things for the Titan, he will be cheaper than anyone, surprised the other vendors don't have them, he sells them a lot of stuff.

BUT! And this is the BIG BIG but, Are they better than the garbage that China had before? I would really hate to see people run out and scarf these things up only to find they are as bad as before.

Hope to see a response to Rick's last post on the serviceability of these coils.

Well broke down and bought a new coil. A used one was around $50 so I went with a vendor who said it was a US contractor made coil. Out of the box shiny chrome, no numbers and tested from small terminal to center on 200K setting 11.3. Is this a good coil or bad ? From what I have read here it should test from 13.0 to 15.0. Believe it's China for the terminal nuts are 8mm.

It's Chinese. 11.3 is acceptable, what is the reading between the two small terminals?

It reads 00.0 which I think is what it should read. Is that correct?

No, it should read around 5-6 ohms. Do you have the meter set on the correct scale? Very unlikely that you have a dead short, especially with a good secondary reading. Primary side of the coil between the two small terminals should be between 5-6 ohms and between either of the small terminals and the secondary terminal should be 11,000-15,000ohms. Could be expressed as 11k-15k. Meter scales on a manual meter will usually be X1for the lowest scale up through X10, X100, X1K, X10K. You would use the X10K for the secondary measurement and the X1 for the primary measurement.

Using a digital meter. Set at 200k What setting do I want on it for the small terminal test. In ohms it has 200-2k-20k 200k-2m-and 20m. lost the instructions some time ago. Put it on 20k and it reads 0.01

Think maybe I did this right, old coil small terminal to main set at 200k reads 09.7 ,between small terminals set at 2k reads .012 new China coil 200k reads 11.3 2k reads .012

set it at 200 and check across the two small terminals of both coils.
