Re: Since you asked, Halloween 2017
And, since we are on the topic of Halloween. Here are some pictures of the Jaycee's Haunted House I used to participate heavily in, at Fremont, Ohio. If you lived anywhere around Ohio back in the 80s you probably visited our haunted house at one time or another. We had visitors from all the states surrounding Ohio.
This house was a good example of 2nd Empire architecture with almost all the elements thereof; cast iron cresting (which unfortunately disappeared over the years), turrets, polychrome slate, dormer windows, cornices, segmented arched windows and veranda, but conspicuously lacking arched doorways.
The house was located at the top of a hill that was overgrown with vine, lots of dead trees, and a creepy barn in the back. Parking was off-site and patrons were bussed in. Unfortunately, the house has been leveled.

Put one up today. Doing a lighting check tonight.
Re: Since you asked, Halloween 2017
Light test complete! All is well.
Now we begin the slow, laborious task of moving the skeletons around the yard every couple of days and getting them into different tasks.
Took this fellow off the fence line and put him to work moving crates.

Do they give out awards in your neighborhood for best displays? Problem is, yours is old school cool. All of the new ones are all electronic. I like the way you do yours shows real interest in the job. I don't suppose anyone has ever mention the term "Obsessive Compulsive" to you have they?

Re: Since you asked, Halloween 2017
Well, I did run that Haunted House for several years for the Jaycees. So every year around August, I start getting itchy for the Halloween gig. I don't get any kick out of the gee-whiz electronic stuff at all. It just looks cheesy. There is some really high end stuff out there that really nails it but the expense...Whew!
It may strike you as odd but we don't get a single trick-or-treater...ever. We're the only house on the block and kids have learn to do their thing in high density neighborhoods. What we DO get is lots of people slowing down and some even stopping to look. This year they're going to see the display change just about every other day...or when the mood strikes me.
There will be a Halloween when I put up a carnival fun house facade for Halloween. That's definitely in the works.

We have a good time with it, that's for sure.
