thread-sizes, bolts and nut used with the Mutt
Gentlemen,
did someone ever do a list of bolts and nuts or at least of the threat-sizes that are used with the mutt?
As I live in Germany, wich is strictly 'metric'-orientated, it is not easy to find UNC and UNF fastening assortments here.
But I have a neighbor who works for another year in the States and he offered me some space for my goods in his naval-containers when he returns to Germany.
It would be nice, if someone could give me a list of the common threat-sizes or the used bolts/nuts. Some weblinks to buy bolts- and nut-assortments in the states would be also very nice.
Thank You for Your help

I would check out Georges contact first but online you can look up McMaster-Carr. To clarify the stripes on the bolt head, Three lines are grade 5 and are for most uses and 6 lines are grade 8 and are hardened bolts needed in high shear strength areas. The military uses fine thread grade 8 in most locations.

Re: thread-sizes, bolts and nut used with the Mutt
Ok. Thanks, but...
...first of all is to know especially what (only those UNC/UNF diameter and tpi sizes used with the Mutt) and second is to know where to buy.
I don't want to waste money on sizes I won't ever need.
Might be a good idea too buying only the longest bolts of any used tread-size an cut them off to the required length...
Thank you for your support

Re: thread-sizes, bolts and nut used with the Mutt
What you are asking is going to be very difficult to answer as your question would appear to ask for us to give you information on every fastener used on these trucks.
As Rick responded, one of the variables is grade. By the way, do not assume that higher grades, such as Grade 8 are always well-suited to every task on the M151.
Another variable is the number of threads per inch (many threads per inch equates to "fine thread", fewer threads per inch equates to "course thread").
Another variable is size.
Another variable is length.
Yet another variable is whether the bolt has a shank and if so, shank length.
So, you see it would be very difficult in providing you with the information we think you really need.
Addressing your question in simplest, most direct terms, the most common sizes found on these trucks range from 1/4 inch to 7/16 inch and even more common would be the 5/16 inch to 3/8 inch fastener, almost all of which have fine thread.
It may be that the Tech Manuals may address your question more effectively so you should take a look.

Re: thread-sizes, bolts and nut used with the Mutt
If you go to the -20P and -34P manuals I am pretty sure it gives the bolt description and size for each bolt. I will look later on this evening to see if that is correct.

Been collecting military hardware for 25 years.
Probably have 100 pounds in a cabnet
When I start a project I still need more.
The wrong length or too few.
Its a basic problem:

And you can't just buy the longest bolt because the threads do not go the whole length.

Here is the McMaster-Carr site, Prices are about the same. I don't know about overseas shipping.
Here is the home page, They have anything and everything for fastening.
https://www.mcmaster.com/
This is where you would go for the bolts you need.
https://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-hex- ... s/=19v6vwc
It will not stay at the level where the bolts are that you are looking for. Just click on the top left bolt a couple times and you will get there.

As was said the -20 and -34 P list part numbers for each bolt.
There is a manual to cross reference each but dont know where to find it.

Re: thread-sizes, bolts and nut used with the Mutt
Comparing prices in the US vs Germany leads me into buying directly in Germany. That seems to makes much more sense.
So I will hunt for the 20P/34P listed UNC/UNF sizes and additionally for some #6/8/10 fasteners.
Thanks to all of you!

Trinkmann,
go here:
http://www.zollshop.de/
I bought mine for my recent restauration all there. Has UNC and UNF. Look in the manual what you need. To start with I bought nuts and bolts assortment so I could check what I needed most
They also have the yellow plated ones that are essential for a nice restauration
