I would have it rebuilt if I were you, depending on where you live any big city should have sevan rebuilders.

Is it the alternator or just the regulator? You can get replacement regulators. Those alternators are pretty bulletproof.

Thanks, I took it to a local alternator repair place. Old school repair shop. The guy says if I don’t have the part for it the part does not exist. The building was literally filled with old, new junk, good parts, alternators and starters. Cool place.

Unless he does a bunch of military vehicles he probably won’t have the parts.
Get an autopsy first. Then find out if he has parts.
There are lots of places to get them on the internet.

Great news, fixed for $80. Bad regulator. Said he fixed over 100 of these. Seriously the guy has a million parts. If you are in TX go to BCS Alternator and Starter in Bryan TX.
