I still have not heard any feed back on the coils from Red River. He is supposedly tied in with Reomie in Holland who contracted with the Chinese company making those coils. They are SUPPOSED to be making better ones now. Yea, I know, who is gonna be the sucker to try them out?

I know Brent Mullins sells NOS 24volt coils with a kit for $200. Yes, they ARE NOS, not reproduction. $200 is high as hell, but in all honesty, the peace of mind makes it worth it to me. I've bought 2 of them, never had an issue. I refuse to run the Chinese crap. He is armytankguy on ebay.

$200.00 seems high ,but you figure you buy one China coil at $45.00 plus another $15.00 for shipping and you then have the got me once, then do a got me twice and you have $120.00 and possible tow bill in that from being down along side the road or as in this case at a stop light and wouldn't stay running and sputtering down the road. All the symptoms of fuel or carburetor issue ,changed coil out along the road and away I went cussing China crap again. I had a spare take out with me. So here you are, do I or don't I ? Well my thoughts right now are, pay the Piper and get a coil that will work for forty plus years .Right now I don't have the $200.00 for a NOS coil so I gamble with another used one but gee back in the sixties and early seventies I never had a coil go out on my Chevy's . One more thing to watch for is all the crap from China that dealers say US manufacture,it comes in a box made from some type of cheap cardboard and to me that is the first sign of junk and you all have seen this cardboard ,whether a desk or lamp made in China, is packaged in it. Edit 4:33 AM Out in the garage working on Jeep and thought ,ATG is the same one who sold me the U.S. manufacture wheel cylinders from CHINA and that are setting on the shelf that I replaced with real U.S. made wheel cylinders. I wouldn't pay him $200.00 for what he says is U.S. manufacture. I guarantee you it is a China made coil. Like Rick said bar code? Look at all the knock shoes and expensive purses from China. China is a snake with excellent like alike stuff so they are doing the same with coils with the looks and the right numbers and sticker, yea right. China coil 10MM nut and US coil 3/8" nut for + and - terminals

China has the electronic and mechanical capabilities to make top quality products on par with any other country. They do not because they are able to sell the cheap stuff and get away with it. I think that is what Reomie said to them, do it right or do not do it at all. That is what I heard anyway. I have nothing to back that up since I have not heard any feedback from anyone buying the new coils. I would be curious to see if the Ohm readings on the newest coils are the same as the old ones. I know the old Chinese coils did not read the same as the NOS coils.

If you remember back in the 60's "made in Japan" is what "Made in China" is today. Now, Made in Japan is a pretty damn high standard. Korea was the same way and still is to a certain extent. They make both ends of the scale.

Paracord, you are free to think what you will, no doubt. But I assure you they are NOS coils he is selling. Like I said, I have bought 2 from him, one for M37 and one for my A2 and when I got them, they were without a doubt NOS, and have worked flawless since. But to each his own, you are free to shop anywhere you want! (hence why capitalism is amazing!!)

I will convert to 12 volt before paying 200.00 for a 30-40 year old coil!!! The insulation and oil in that coil is old and has all those years of decay already on it and yes, they do decay internally. Look at all the radio suppression capacitors that are going bad recently and all of the swiss controls ignition modules that are now failing, they were considered bulletproof five years ago. Electrical stuff ages, and older electrical stuff does not age all that well. He better guarantee that NOS coil for 20 years with that price!

Stop to get fuel and wouldn't start. No spark, changed coil out ,no spark ,changed out condenser ,no spark ,where is my test light? Replaced the NOS Swiss module with another NOS one and fired right up. 623 mile on that one. When the China coil went bad it might have put a spike on the module or what ever it may do. I noticed it was running a little rough after the coil change and now runs smooth again. Now to find another Swiss module for a spare. Double cha ching again. 1/2 grand in two coils ,no way. That's equal to eleven take out coils.

The new Swiss modules are also Chinese. You can use Pertronix in the M37. Anyone heard of it being used in a M38 or 151?

Found it. (as usual)
https://frugalmechanic.com/auto-part/pe ... gIuo_D_BwE

Screw the Chinese!! Now to pair this up with a MSD unit to feed the coil and should be good to go. It ups the voltage to the coil to close to a hundred volts but lowers the amperage to the milivolt range so that should also preserve the coil, Chinese or not.

Now all I need to find is a 12 volt starter and I am golden!!

I don't have an issue with coils at present and would think that coils will be available. Worst case I would put in an electronic voltage regulator just for a 12V coil but leave the jeep at 24V
