$2,600 M151A1 SOLD

Unread post by Nick_ » February 6th, 2018, 10:38 pm

SOLD

For sale is an uncut M151A1 Mutt. Overall pretty complete vehicle with a great candidate for restoration. I purchased this vehicle because someone converted it to 12V and I needed the starter for another project (long story). The standard 24V parts are available everywhere.

Drivetrain:
Engine turns over and has been fired, I have a video to text. Transmission shifts in 3 of 5 gears.

Body/frame:
Overall decent. Rust is the front driver/passenger floorboard areas and the 2 frame ribs below them. Some on rear panel.

Early production parts:
Set of Magnesium wheels
Early style hood
Adjustable seats

Has body features that would indicate it is an a1 and not an early straight. Main ones being supports for front fender turn signals, lack of cowl vents, later front bumper, later hood (notice notch for turn signal wire), and the third light on the right rear. On the flip side there are a number of early features bolted on such as the mag rims, early emergency brake, driver side screw adjust seat, and the rear tire holder/reflector. Muttguru should be able to give you a better indication of timeframe from the cowl tag.

Good luck with the sale Tex.

A couple guys on Facebook thought this was an early M151 with an A1 dataplate put on. I haven't ever seen the Jeep nor have much Mutt knowledge, so I can't confirm anything.

I see a lot of rust in the rear panel too. And the sides have a little. And the center floor plate has been butchered but Guy has that panel and most of the others that are rusted so overall it is a fixer.

Thank you all for the information. As I mentioned this Mutt is in Texas, and I live in Indiana. I haven't ever seen this in person and posted the ad on information given to me by the previous owner. Your eyes and attention to detail are far better than mine, especially through the crappy pics (I've never owned a Mutt or am knowledgeable on them). If you are a serious buyer I would highly suggest looking at this in person.

Hello Nick.....

What you have is a Ford-built M151A1 (definitely an A!) delivered around June 1966 and it would have been built under Contract DA20-113-AMC-07507-(T)-(MYP).
Having said that, it could also have been built under Ford's earlier contract (DA20-113-AMC-02787-(T)-(MYP) but delivered around the same date.

The reason for two possibilities? Ford was operating two production lines, one completing the earlier contract and the other producing the new contract.
If it was issued to the Army, it could be in the 2K-series or it could be in the later 2M-series.

I can see that there is a dash-mounted dataplate but the photo isn't clear. Is there any possibility you could post a good clear photo of the plate? I may be able to tell you more about it when I see what it says. :D
Ken
Kind regards....
Ken

LOL.... My wife just yelled NO from the other side of the house. Having four in resto right now might be her limit!!!

It is certainly better than several others I've rebuilt.

Hell, I would have traded my a1 rims and e brake handle/linkage for those straight rims and e brake plus the lollipop wingnut (if there) and of course added some cash but I just blew my project budget for the next few months on some radio gear.
