2243 spark plugs

Unread post by Mark » June 4th, 2018, 8:48 pm

Will 2243 spark plugs work ok in a mutt? I guess they run a little hotter, but what exactly does that mean?

They are one step colder, they may foul. I have not tried them but I have a bunch of them so I ought to give them a try.

I have been running 2243s in an M38A1 for a number of years now without any problem, and I take the jeep on some pretty rigorous off-road trips. I would guess that they would work just as well in an M151.

Different engine and different engine design so really can't compare. What plugs does the M-38 call for?

The M38A1 does have a different engine, but if I'm not mistaken it still called for the same 2245 spark plug that the M151 uses. I would have to look it up again to be sure. I have one M38A1 with 2245s in it and one with 2243s in it. They both run fine, and I can't imagine that there would be too much trouble in an M151 either.

I don't know, the 151 engine is very finicky. If everything is not perfect they run like crap. 2 degrees off on the timing either way and it runs like crap, that is how close they are.
