coils

Unread post by Lindsay36551 » June 6th, 2018, 5:55 pm

Hey guys, I was going thru some old stock parts today.
What should the ohm reading be for a coil?
All old take out units.
I've got a couple that are reading 7.5 and 3 that rate at 10.5
Thanks
Lindsay

The one thing that thread does not mention is that it is common to see 10-11.5 on the primary of the Chinese coils when they are good. Different number of windings and I am sure a different gauge of wire used for the windings. So if the 3 that are in the 10 range are shiny ones then they are probably good. At least as they sit, the problems will turn up when they heat up in use if they are bad. I have a couple of them here that test great but when you try to run them they will shut down in about 2 minutes.
