Re: M151 collection pictures
Sadly, Neither of these had any data plates on them when I got them

earlier in this topic I posted a picture of the "Weight & Dimensions" plate for the Combat Assault Vehicle. What I'd really love to see are the actual dash-dataplates for any of these vehicles. Are the dash-plates specially designed (like the W&D plates) or are they the original style?
Would be interesting to see which Contract the Mil chose to select from.
Kind regards....
Ken
I don't think any contractors were involved. But that data plate says differently. I believe these A2's were modified (in house) or at the base to get them "upgraded" and moved asap.
Re: M151 collection pictures
Got a couple new 151 additions to the collection and I thought I would share a few pictures of them and update on some of the others, both of the new ones are projects. The standard CAV is now up and running decently, but needs new valve seals, the 6x6 conversion has made no progress, the radio CAV is still in storage waiting on a spot in the shop to be cleaned out for it, and the others are still running great. One of the new ones is a 1998 encore and the other is a 1967 m151a1 that came from Blake in VA. I have removed the remaining half of the rops on the encore, repainted it, and got it running pretty good, but I still need to fix the broken exhaust manifold bolt and put a windshield on it. I am currently in the process of trying to free up the motor in the 1967 as well.

Watch out, Joe is one of those Navy guys! Don't turn your back on him!! I have heard they are almost as bad as their brothers the Seabees at pilfering stuff!
Sorry Joe, Haven't picked on you since the Amon days!

Rick.... Yes, my turn for a good ribbing is long overdue and I miss the good ole days with Bob Amon. But I will treat the new guy with utmost respect just like any other G838 brother and not misappropriate his stuff. That just wouldn't be cool!!!
I was a Navy Cryptologist and spent my four years mostly locked up in a secure comm. ctr. behind a chain link fence guarded by the USMC. And those guys don't fool around.......
But that said, our command had a small unit assigned to an Army communications base in South Korea during the 1960's. The base had a large quantity of 151's in their motor pool and the envious squids had no vehicles to call their own. Soon after their arrival to set up shop, they appropriated a Mutt during the night and quickly drove it off base into town for a navy gray paint job. The guys were worried about what their CO would say about their new unit vehicle. Apparently it worked out OK.....
The funny thing is the guys didn't want to break mil regs with their switcheroo so they retained the original Army markings on their new Navy Jeep!!!

Re: M151 collection pictures
Good Lord! They even painted the seat pads.
Re: M151 collection pictures
That seat pad is NOT out of a 151! They not only stole the mutt but they stole the seats out of the Colonels car!!!!

Wow, It's so amazing. You have a very huge collection. Looking forward to this group.

Re: M151 collection pictures
Thanks. It started out with 1 cucv and 1 m151a2 and from there the collection seemed to grow to where it is now. The military vehicle habit is very addicting
Re: M151 collection pictures
I finally got around to doing some body work and paint on a couple of the m151s. I repainted the camo a1 with 34052 OD and attempted to fix some of the rust and poor body work on it from the previous owner’s restoration about 20 years ago. I also repainted the a2 with 24087 as it is a early a2 and replaced the Marine bumper with an army one as I am doing that one in army configuration. Now I just need to do markings on them. The a1 was done with aervoe paint and the a2 was done with rapco paint and I will probably end up redoing the a1 with rapco paint, possibly 24052 this time. The aervoe paint was good, but I have had better luck and results with the rapco/gillespie. Here are some before and after pics.
Re: M151 collection pictures
Charlie.... The paint jobs look good... just in time for our July 4th Parade this year. Hope you can bring both jeeps for the event and I agree with you on the Gillespie paint. I've been using that brand on my jeeps for well over a decade now. The 24087 on my M38 is weathering well but I'll need to start thinking about refreshing the paint soon. My A2 was done years ago as well and now it's developing a nice patina. Hope to see you guys soon.....
Re: M151 collection pictures
Thanks, I think both of yours still look really good. We are hoping to bring both jeeps, the v35, and hopefully a mighty mite to the paradeJoe wrote: ↑June 10th, 2019, 7:21 pmCharlie.... Re: M151 collection pictures
Awesome!!!! We form-up directly behind the DE National Guard vehicles at the front of the parade. In our eyes, the more vehicles we can muster..... the better!!!! Pictures of the event will be shared here.....
