Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
It is always nice to have at least one spare axle with new joints in at all times. That way if a joint goes out all you need to do is swap axles and you are back on the road and you can change the joint at your leisure.

Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
If that axle drive shaft wasn't able to expand and collapse it is highly likely you are going to find you have a problem with the yoke at the differential. Reach up there and grab it and see if it wobbles. If it does, the yoke is toast and it will need to be replaced.
Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
Like rotational wobble on the normal drive axis or on an angle?

Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
What he is saying is that the yoke will be loose on the splines. The repair is to just replace the yoke.

Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
Rick is correct. When the axle shaft cannot compress or lengthen it will work on that yoke very forcefully.
If you can visualize a car with a hubcap not put on quite right it'll look like its wobbling when the wheel turns.
In other words it's not turning on a single plane.
That's what you're checking for with that yoke.

Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
Please disregard prior post. My "honor Roll child thinks she should tell everyone and me of course proper English. EERRRR. She had no business looking at my forumns and posting anything in my name.
Anyway, I am in the same situation here. Cannot compress or expand axle shaft.

Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
After some looking what diameter are the fuel lines coming out of my tank supposed to be? From the pump to the carb I think I had 1/4 inch line but I have spools of 3/16 line that I was planning on useing is it to small?

Re: A2 motorpool rebuild
#/16 is brake line and is too small for fuel line. The ground moved around on different years. On the early models it was a strap and went from one side of the motor mount to the other side of the mount. Then on the early A1 it went from the top of the bell housing over to the body but I am having a brain fart and don't remember where on the body, I will have to check on that one. On the A2 it goes from the bell housing over to the horn bracket.
