The tippy top bit is a cast socket fitted to a length of heavy wall pipe. I find it difficult to believe you cannot locate a socket for sale The pipe could be procured at any place that sells industrial steel.

May I ask what you are trying to accomplish?

All the usual suppliers will most likely have the socket assembly...BMG gun parts, Sarco maybe even Numrich....and I would guess that Shotgun News would also be a good place to look.

Sarco lists one that is probably a reproduction, here, though they say they are temporarily out of stock

https://www.sarcoinc.com/socket-for-pedestal-mount/

If you don't intend to shoot off of it (meaning it is merely for show) I would imagine a reproduction would be just fine and far less expensive..

They also show up on eBay from time to time.

As for the pipe...well, pipe is pipe. Get the correct wall thickness and you're good to go. Hope this helps a little.

Cheers,
TJ

Doesn't that section of pipe have the pintle socket and lock in the top part and on the bottom doesn't it have a section that locks it into the pedestal riser?

The M4 does but he was showing me a picture of a different pedestal so I assumed the one shown was the one he was looking for.

TJ, Here is a complete M4 pedestal, You can see that top section I was talking about. It is the same as what he has pictured. I was a 60 gunner although I humped mine and did not use the ones in the vehicles but I did have to train on the vehicle mounted unit as part of the M60 coarse. Also had to train on the door gun in the Huey since we were airborne.

Yes, I was aware of the M4 mount being sectional. I guess I missed the cross-pin entirely  and I am used to seeing a cross pin because mine is similarly situated, though it is for a different purpose altogether. (my upper section extends upward)

Still, in the event that upper section cannot be found at a reasonable price, there is the second option of having one made and I cannot imagine the cost would be very high to have a piece of solid stock turned down to create the bottom slug. The rest, as I have already described, is heavy wall pipe and a socket. Pretty basic stuff.
