Double bonus, what appears to be a 65 Mustang behind the GPW! Yup, it is an A1, Have you run the Budd tag numbers past Ken the Muttguru yet? That will give you a much better feel for the year and month of the vehicle.

Yup, It's a 65 A code fastback I restored 16 years ago to 100% original. It took me 8 years and I did not add up the receipts . At 70 years old I don't think my heart could take the shock; The 24 model t only took 6 years and yup, thinking of my heart, didn't add the receipts. Yup one of these days I need to get with Ken with my numbers. The guy I got it from owned it shortly after it left the Army. He did very little maintenance and finally parked it in 1991. I bought it about two years ago. Ken

I'm almost sure I have my wiring solved. problem I had was two wires are 22-460 and 22-461 and the other five are letter tags A,B,J,K,l . I spent most of Saturday doing continuity testing each wire . For the life of me I could not put wire letter B to anything. I walked away from it for awhile , went back out and look up at the stoplight switch and bingo, wire B is accounted for. I need to get with George and let him know everything is good with my harness, I hope ? when I get all lights installed I'll power it up and see what happens. I want to say thanks to rickf and George for there willingness to help me, but it aint done yet. Ken

Hope this is my last problem! Has anyone tried to get the center out of the plug that goes to the regulator? everything will unscrew but center won't pull out. It's a 25 amp. thanks

If I remember correctly there is a snap ring in there. I am curious why you need to take that apart? Most harness's I have ever seen come with the plugs already on them.

Hello rickf!
The casing on that wire was frayed bad . I tried to remove the end with no success . I no now i screwed up and cut it. i don't want to destroy the plug so I'll slide shrink tube high on the wire and weave the wire and solder it

Hello rickf !
I decided to use a solder type connector without the vinyl cover . Tinned the wires and the solder flowed right in and used seal type shrink tube. after a tape job looks good. Guess i should have taped it from the start and done. That probably won't be the last thing i screw up. Ken

Not sure about kwb, but I NEVER screw up :!:

And MY WIFE, who just retired at the end of February, often tells me to relax and take it easy in my recliner while she fans me and feeds me grapes  :D 8)

If my daughter happens to be around the house, she will peel the grapes for me

raymond, you are a lucky dog ! rickf, After fifty years of marriage i don't have to ask if i'm screwing up, the look tells it all. But, for three years i was her best friend while i was rebuilding her GPW. Nope, she doesn't have my password for this site!

hi

nice the see you have sorted it out
i normaly put a extern fuse aboud 15 amps between the positive battery`s and the positive battery klamp
i do this if for the first time power is set on the system
i every thing works ok if there is a mistake or short fuse blows no fried wiring :D
below the termanals i have from Ken Muttguru
also a text abous the plug picture`s are bad

Terminal -- Wiring -- Control

on flasher harness unit

box (D-box) terminal terminal (Sparton switch)

A --A --E
B --B --B (this goes to L/S 22 via harness “B” conx)
C -- --C
D -- --D
E --E -- (this goes to 22-460 via “E” conx)
F -- --F
H -- --G
J --J -- (this goes to 460 via “J” conx)
K --K -- (this goes to 22-461 via “K” conx)
L --L -- (this goes to 461 via “”L” conx)
M - I think it`s terminal for ground cable. See below......

Hello George!
Very good tip about the 15 amp fuse. I did not think about that and thanks for your help. Ken

Hello all! I don't have my engine ready to go in yet but I want to power up to check all the light workings . I'll disconnect the voltage regulator to do this. I have a AC to DC power box and won't forget about the 15 amp fuse George recommended. The number system on these 151's aren't rocket science but it was to me because of the seven wires going to controller cable. only two numbered wires, 22-460 and 22-461 and the other wires were letter tags, A,B,J,K,L that did not show up on the wiring diagram. I put number tags on them now but I left the letters on for now, just in case .I ran through all wiring with my meter but I need to see light to say I'm done. I'll report back later with the results. Ken
