shifter boots

Unread post by kwb » November 12th, 2021, 8:40 pm

When i bought my 151 there were no rubber boots on the shift levers or park brake. does the front drive and park brake boots fasten to anything or just hang down the tunnel ?

The shift boot has a lip and the fwd stick is sandwiched between the trans cover and fwd cover.

I was wondering if someone would ask! I welded the footman loops on and added the strap. As we put a lot of miles on the truck, I try to eliminate any additional noise if possible. This was done to stop the e-brake handle which drove me nuts and I'd constantly find myself putting my hand on it to make it stop. With a small amount of pressure the strap stops the noise. I'm very happy with the result and it looks MV ish.

Makes me wonder as I don't recall any noise from E-brake handle, maybe my hearing is lacking

Fil fixed the noise by resetting the rivets and tightening the movement.Be careful not to over tighten the pivot rivets.
But maybe you like your fix better

Until you have a brake failure and you need that brake in a hurry. You are not going to be able to unstrap it in a panic situation.

It's unstrapped on trails and I maintain my truck. I'm not concerned about a failure and having to rely on the e-brake.

You need to do that all over the M151 to keep things from rattling and humming!
