Starting issues
Have a 66 M151a1 with electric military fuel pump and electric ignition.....Lately it takes at least 10-15 sec of cranking with almost full choke to start..Weather is warm....When it starts it runs rough and has to be on half choke to run....However once its ran for awhile it starts up qwik with little choke needed....Ideas?

Re: Starting issues
Could be float level, fuel pump, carburetor......aw, I better keep quiet as my carburetor is a holley so has some different features in it.

Re: Starting issues
Ummm. Sounds normal for a carbureted vehicle? If it is rougher than it was in the past then I would suspect old gas has gummed up the carburetor. You say "Almost full choke" is needed to start. Usually you will need full choke since there is no accelerator pump until after you are running to get gas into the manifold.

Re: Starting issues
Pull the breather hose and make sure you choke is fully closing.
Re: Starting issues
I wonder if he has the breather hose on there at all. If he doesn't, that would explain a lot.
You might try this. Put some leftover icing (from the gingerbread house competition) in your coffee in the morning. That big ol' lump of powdered sugar will help get anything started.
