Unknown Electrical Item

This tubular electrical item is located on the inside of the front side panel on the drivers side and has two wires attached, one on each end with a coating resembling sand on the outside of the tube. It is mounted to keep it isolated from touching the side panel or anything else, which to me means it may get hot. To me, it looks like a resistor of some kind, which could get hot, but the TM 9-2320-218-20P manual doesn't have a resistor listed that I could find. I also couldn't find it on the schematic. I haven't followed the wires yet as it got dark on me. I suppose it could also be a resistor or some other item left over from the TOW Missle Launcher days.

it is 5 Ohm
