These yellow headlights (24v) were available for sale from Ziggy O at the East Coast Military Vehicle Rally at Aberdeen, Maryland, USA, last May, 2008. I'm sure Ziggy still has them but don't know if he's a member of G838.

They are original right. Used in wet and foggy environments and around airports as replacement of fog lights.
I have seen mil version LR defenders being supplied with them on the same pretext. Depending on the area of delpoyment the lights were installed, the others went to the spare pool.

A better question for me is whether yellow headlights are legal in Nevada, Arizona and the People's Republic of California (the states that I spend the most time in), are they DOT compliant, and if so where to get them.

I don't think the standard clear 24 volt military sealed beam has the DOT approval code on them either.

My understanding of these particular bulbs is they are standard clear GI bulbs, that were aftermarket coated for the yellow tint, and have no "amber designation" in the stock numbers. I believe I understood 1 or 2 batches of them had been treated a year or two ago. They are not as amber as the original yellow "issued" bulbs.

I found some yellow headlights on Ebay. Starting price for the Jeep was $100.
