Flyboy740 :
The models 151 and A1 had diferent support for the exhaust in the fording Kit.

this first fording Kit model had only two steel stick to support the exhaust tube, diferent to the metal plate angle w/ holes that you have.

The mount on the drivers rear is for an extra radio antenna. I was planning on putting an amber rotating beacon on it. The owner prior to me had radio mounts on both fenders but that wasn't the kind of jeep I use to drive so they are in storage.

I'm having problems downloading pictures of the Run #1 stamp and dual vents. As soon as I figure out what I've done, I'll get them posted.

Mine is a straight 151 made in 1960 in the first run. It has the foil tag but the number 1 behind the seat is a victim of rust.

I would enjoy doing that but it's about a month premature. I'm hoping to have it out to look at by Memorial Day. I'll do it sometime around then.

I know of a person who owns a M151 prototype that I have been trying to purchase for over 2 years. It has rounded fenders like the Willy's CJ-2A. It needs restored but it is good condition. I would say its pre 1960....(1955-1959).....Are there any other prototypes out there?

M151-H57 (hinze 57)--> Hybrid with solid m151 body and m151A2 body. To tell you the truth I didn't know the terminology too. Ken the Mutt guru and Later Joe advised so! "A little story about a MUT and Hinez57. See here in America when a K9 (dog) has mix breads then is refered as a MUT and or Hinez57. So sence your M151 is not a pure M151 then we in the HMV world Refer to it as a Hinze 57"
Thats all

The VERY EARLy FORD's had a set of ##'s stamped on the LEFT forward rail. This was on the TOP of the rail, UNDERNEATH the GRILL. This was stamped on the 1960-1962. You cannot see these numbers without taking your Grill Out !

In 1963-1964, WillysJeep/Kaiser Corp. made the STRAIT M151. Their BODY ##s, made by FREUHAUFF Trailer Co. were placed on the ALUMINUM Foil Tags. These were placed onto the TOP of the RIGHT Frame rail. Mine was protected with a cover of OD green Duct Tape-ORIGINAL. During early phase of resto, I located it under layers of grease and dirt. My tag is cherry and many of these blew off. Rubber contact cement. My body # 672-0 , Assembly # 8754459 1963.

Prior to 1964 when the vrc-12 series was introduced, the radios would've been an RT-66, 67, or 68 depending on the type of unit (infantry, armor, artillery etc) I believe the mount was a MT-299... here's a link to a list of all the pieces...and there were a lot lol: http://www.hypertools.com/armyradios.html

The antenna mount you have, was made just for the M151. This was for the AB 15 ant. This mount was made for the Right rear corner. It has a FootmanLoop welded onto it. This was for the one it displaced, for the 2 window canvas top.

This has t be the First m151, I have seen with the 4 sets of single horned hood latches ! Your is an early girl with the 2 Cowl vents 60-62. You stated yours has the aluminum foil tag. As an early m151 does yours have the tag mounted on the tranny cover ? Have you located your ## 's on the front top rail ? Right side facing the engine compartment, beneith the grill ? I have never seen a Ford with the aluminum foil Bodt tag affixed to the top rail on the Left side-facing the eng. compartment.

Back to your antenna mount, DON"T get rid of it !! I have had 3 in my years, 2 NOS ones now. This mount was ONLYfor the M151,
