Brakes part numbers, O'Reilly Auto

Unread post by mightybaldone » April 14th, 2009, 7:25 pm

Thought I'd pass this along for the civilian parts list:

Wheel cylinder, 3/4" ( M151, A1, and A2 rear only ) O'Reilly Auto Parts number WC16535, lifetime warranty.
They also carry the 1" for the A2 front but I don't have the number.
They also carry the rebuild kits for both the cylinders if you have some old original ones. I've rebuilt two and the work great.

The Brake shoe holding springs ( shoes to back plate ) O'Reilly Auto parts number HDW1156.

Hello Ron,

thanks for posting this info. Do you have the part number for the cylinder rebuild kit (and is it for the 1" or the 3/4" cylinder)? Im hoping to update the crossover list very soon, so everyone else's additions etc will be most welcome (-:

thanks....
Kind regards....
Ken

I'll be back out in the shop tomorrow and will look for the receipts and get back with you. The rebuilds kits are for both the 1" and the 3/4". Also look for the number for the 1" cylinders.

O'Reilly's no longer carries the rebuild kits but the number for a 1" wheel cylinder ( A2 front only ) is WC19237.

I called O'Reillys today to verify the part numbers.

Thanks for that, Ron. Pity about the rebuild kits...... I'd have bought a couple myself. Did O'Reilly have a part number for them? Even if they don't do them any more, it's possible that NAPA etc will have a cross-reference to the O'Reilly p/n.

Anyway, good stuff.....anyone else have any interchange parts details for the list?
Kind regards....

If you have an old time parts guy around, you know the type, he works out of a book and not the computer. He would most likely be able to cross the numbers over for you. Brake shoes for example all use the same numbering system, the number is always the same but different companies add suffix and prefix numbers and letters to that number. It used to be that way with oil filters, an FL1A always had the 1 in it no matter the company. I notice that is not always so with them anymore.

Yeah but I hear you have killer maple syrup. I'm sure if you went to Carquest, Parts plus, NAPA, Autozone, or any of the big national chains they should be able to cross ref for you. However I agree with Rick and make sure you get an old timer to help you.

Most of the major chains around here hire the local high school kids, and maybe an older guy that's been down sized out of a good job. I've never have had good luck looking for antique parts in that kind of a store. Best luck for me comes from the old family owned and operated local parts shop. The kind that still has bad lighting, old pistons as ashtrays on the counter, and stools on the customer side of the counter :) That's MY kind of parts store! :D

I buy my normal parts from parts plus. It's a chain but it's more like the family owned business as you described. Also no high school kids working the counter and it has bad lighting. Also has the old warehouse smell, i.e wet cardboard.

NAPA part Numbers are:

3/4" wheel cylinder: UP 16535
3/4" wheel cylinder rebuild kit : UP 127
1" wheel cylinder: UP 16534
1" wheel cylinder rebuild kit: UP 106

The cylinders are about $10 more at NAPA then O'Reilly.
NAPA does carry the rebuild kits from 4 to 5 dollars each.

Hi, I just picked up some rear shock bushings that fit the M151,A1,A1C,and M718. I got them at AutoZone but other stores should have them also, they are from "Energy Suspension" they are a 1 pice hourglass bushing made of Polyurethan, you get 2 in a pack for $4.00 ( 1 shock, ) The part # is, 9.8107G, the "G" is for black, if you want red use "R" :)
