For a while we had a M151 Popemobile, now we have a M151 Pimpmobile
I rather like that one.
Anyone recall the photo on the dark side of the Army recruiters M151?

That would be Sgt. Hack. He was almost court martialed for that and then he ended up restoring it for the Army. It is now in a museum.toptiger wrote:For a while we had a M151 Popemobile, now we have a M151 Pimpmobile

Hey Toptiger,
That Hackmobile was from the little downtown business strip posted in my local cruise-in thread, right here in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
I've known Dave Hack since the 70's when he was a recruiter here in my home town.

Quite a character, now he owns a company called "U.S. Wings" that sells leather jackets and hawaian shirts just about 5 miles north of here. He's ridden in my A2 a few times, not sure about the ride along for the 4th of July parade though.

Re: Spotted
Thanks Rainman
I have heard a lot about him and the M151 and happy to see his creation once again.
He actually did that to an active Army vehicle? Incredible balls and must be a great guy!

Re: Spotted
Hey Sherwan,
I understand your train of thought, but none of the above. This guy was an Army recruiter during the Viet Nam War. He did this as a recruitment tool, at least that's what he told the Army when they found out one of their vehicles had been "colorized". Sgt. Hack was on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine once and was the Army's most successful recruiter for 3 or 4 years during a very unpopular time in American military history. He was the recruiter here in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio during all of those years too. Somehow he kept his stripes, but had to give the jeep back and it was retired while in active service to be placed on the Ft. Campbell Museum. The only other active duty jeep to be retired for the purpose of going directly into a museum was the one used by General George S. Patton.
Hey Top,
I'll be calling him when I get back from the convoy to invite him as a "ride along" in a local July 4th parade. I'll tell him you send your regards.

Re: Spotted
Rainman,
I was referring to the Mutt that Sam posted, that chrome, the glossy O.D and acute detail in red, He's even got U.S Army written on it!, it's just not right. It insults the Armed Forces of both nations.
I like the Hot Rod Mutt, its original to its theme, my previous post was not for Sgt. Hack's mutt, if it has offended anyone, my apologies, but i can't seem to get past that "pimpmobile" as Top has put it, a very good description i might say Top. I sure would like to pimp that owners ass, steal that Mutt and turn it into something what it deserves to be. I severe people have no respect these days for classics, especially MV's.
