Tag line for T shirts

Unread post by WC Matt » July 5th, 2009, 7:15 am

Hey guys!
I've been "tossing" this around awhile and thought I'd post to get this G's input.
I've been thinking about making a M151 T shirt (so I can wear my pride and joy) and although I've selected a particular mutt for the image, I'm having trouble thinking up a tag line to go with it. I would like to include "M151A2" ( image I'm using) and maybe "G-838" for it's gov't stock # but, neither of these have to be used in the tag line.

I was partial to "My jeep won a war, your CJ delivers my mail" which is one that I read on here (sorry, I forgot who's that was). Considering that the mutt served during the vietnam war, this could cause all sorts of unnessassary debate.

So what do you guys think? Any suggestions? This could turn out to be a fun thread! The winner of this contest or at least the member who's phrase I use will recieve a free T shirt (when I get around to having them made  ).

Regards,
Matt AKA WC

hi Matt,
how about moose's "Real jeeps have horizontal grille slots" no matter what, the grille is really unique among it's siblings and surely represents our beloved jeep....
the LAST 1/4 ton of FUN....

As far as putting A2 on it that would sort of leave us A1 guys out. I like the my Jeep won a war thing but I see big problems there. First and foremost is the fact that Chrysler is bankrupt and searching for money anywhere they can get it. Can you say "copyright infringement"? :x :x :x Personally I think they stole the idea since they did not develop it in the slightest way but the fact is that they own the name.
Second is the fact that these are Fords and not Jeeps, I know we all called them Jeeps in the service but fact are facts.

Your HMMWV's daddy!

After all AMG took our beloved 151s and basically gave it steroids and poof a HMMWV was born.

Or

Put a 151 in full combat regalia you know radios, M60, sand bags etc on it and the tag line could be "Can your Wrangle do this?"
There is one nut on a M151 that is very difficult to remove.....

The picture speaks for itself.
No tag line needed.

I've been contemplating a license plate frame that says, "Real 4x4s don't have shiny paint."

Don't worry about these people. They would protest against it if it was a WW2 MB/GPW. They just don't like anything remotely connected with the military. When I am going somewhere I know that type of people congregate, I like to wear an NRA T-shirt to be deliberately provocative.

I don't remember winning the war in VN neither, but neither did we in Korea. How about " IN YOUR MUTT FACE !!!" or "MUTT BRAINS IN ACTION" ," MUTTS ON ACID ", "MUTTS, The breakfast of Champions", " Mothers love their Mutts", "My Son is a MUTT", "My Son SERVED in a MUTT, ",Once a MUTT , Always a MUTT " , " Dirt Sailors loves Mutts" ( Seabees in case you didn't know}, " give me mutts or give me liberty" ( ee cummings ), "MUTTS Away ", "Dam the torpedoes, man the MUTTS". " My mutter love me!"' . " MUTT-money under the table ". " MUTT's gamble " , .......ok, I'm tired, but I'm sure there are more ideas out there. Just send me the shirt with out any army logos on it please. Seabee

I do like Moose's tag line but, I can see Rickf's point about copy right infringment + corperate lawyers = bad time for me.

Sarmadq
Yes you are correct, it is the picture of that desert painted A2 that I requested from you that is the image I want to use. BTW, I really like your tag line for it.

Ralph
You may have something there....but I'm not exactly done searching yet .

Toptiger
Yeah, yeah I know "we were winning when I left" -heard that one before! Maybe I could use that for the Mutt's tag line?

SEEBEE
Man, you really picked this up and ran with it! The image I have in mind shows the M151A2 in the desert camoflage pattern w/o canvas top and windshield folded. There are no markings on the truck to denote branch of service so I think this would be all right for most folks.

Rickf
As a former A1 owner myself, I can relate to your comment. Ever thumb through an MV mag and there's one image postage stamp sized, of the MV type you own but pages and pages of images of other vehicles you have no desire to own much less look at? I just wanted to design a shirt that was vehicle type specific. Maybe we can also do one that is strickly A1s for all those guys out there? I guess I'll have to dig out some old photos of my A1 to (maybe) use as a model.

WC
