Mr. D, I'm 60......not 90 !!!!! you got the number turned upside down. Good picture tho, I appreciate it. I told the guys before about my father in law, who was one of the original Seabees in WW2. In the movie 'Fighting Seabees", with John Wayne ( this was one of our training films you know ) anyway, when Japan was bombing Pearl Harbor, they were also attacking Wake Island, only it took two weeks to gain control. Those left were then taken to POW camps in China and then Japan , and spent 4 years there. There were some left on the island, since there was limited room on the ships, so they just shot and killed them, rather than take them later. My father in law did not say much on this, and even then, very little. When I met my future wife, I was on leave at the time, and when Art and I met and talked about my position as a Seabee, we connected right a way. Small world isn't it. Makes me proud to have carried on this Seabee heritage. Thanks for the picture. Tom/ Seabee

It may shock Seabee to hear this but had I known about the Seabee's when I was drafted I would have been running dozers instead of jumping out of airplanes. Hell, I had a lot more experience running heavy equipment then I did imitating birds!

You know that does not surprise me. I knew of your experience, you mentioned it before.....i just got lucky to get into the Seabees. As I told Toptiger, i learned by the book and advanced that way ( BU2) , and had some really good Union people in my squad, that made me look good. I made sure the officers/engineers would stay out of our way, by talking College football,..... it worked every time. Seabee

My old man was a torpedo man stationed on a small island in the Pacific during WWII. The torpedoes were used on PT boats. He told me MANY TIMES about the Sea Bees coming in and building a working air strip in 24 hours.
