I forgot to put the paper gasket that goes between the engine & the bell housing.
Does anyone know if this gasket is necessary or not?
I am not worried about it not being totally sealed since I never plan to use it to ford rivers or anything like that.
I do not really want to have to pull the trans & bell housing back off!!!
Is the bell housing gasket necessary?

Re: Is the bell housing gasket necessary?
Hi, to my knowledge it is there as a fording seal only, if I am wrong someone will let us know.

I agree with MrR. Unless your fording and putting the plug in, there is no real need for it. Other than muttvet and maybe Sherwan or Sam, most of us never put the fording plug in, ever. Too easy to rust them out by soaking them and letting them drip dry.
