Oil pressure

Unread post by csmith » December 1st, 2009, 11:37 pm

My oil pressure runs at about 15 at idle, about 30 at speed. Manual states 15 at idle (okay there) and 35-55 at speed (a bit low) any reason for concern or just normal guage range? What are symptoms of low oil pressure? Tx

Talking of pressure, what happens if the pressure exceeds the limits ? What would that do, I assume it would cause the seals etc to leak or are we looking at any mechanical damage too ?

What causes would lead to low and or high oil pressure, is it entirely the oil pump :?:

The first thing you need to do with erroneous readings is to verify what you actually have with a mechanical gauge. The electrical gauges are famous for being off.
