Windsheild Pump

Unread post by csmith » December 8th, 2009, 10:35 pm

Does anyone have experience with the windsheild pump? The one that came on my mutt was plastic and when I first used it, the nozzle was apparently clogged so as I pumped the washers the plastic pump blew. Ordered another and it was also plastic, replaced the nozzle and as soon as the pressure built it also blew :x . Are they all plastic and crap, or did I just get a bad one? Are there metal ones available and if so where is the best source to get one :?: :?:

They are all the same. Halftracknut already stated you have something plugged. I would disconnect the rubber hose that runs from the pump to the nozzle and remove the nozzle Blow air through the hose and see if that clears any blockage. You can also run a fine wire through the nozzle and see if you get anything out of it.

Tx Half / Cobra, I put a new nozzle on, checked the holes with a pin. I'll pull off the lines and check all out before putting a new pump on.

I have a manual pump .......... fill a bottle with water, splash water on screen and run the wipers. Everything works just fine & nothing blows up :D

Cobra and all, yes. I was about to post on this. One of our members supplied me with a TO pump, still plastic but older green version which seems better built than the new one I purchased which failed. Before installing it I blew out both lines, flushed out the pump, and removed the NEW Nozzle and blew it out also. Lines and pump seemed clear but I found some small debris in the nozzle. Put it all back together and now it all works fine. Thanks to everyone that piped in on this thread!
