R-442 Radio Receiver Cover $5.99 NOS
I bought a couple of covers for my R-442 for $5.99 plus shipping.
They are NOS in a sealed box, heavy canvas with strong zippers, snap on top for the cover when the receiver is in use and fits GREAT.

Re: R-442 Radio Receiver Cover $5.99 NOS
You got that right Ralph. A couple of my favorite showoffs were standing straight up and falling forward to the pushup position and catching myself just with my arms. Needless to say if I tried that now the bone would just break starting at the wrists and all the way to the shoulders! The other favorite was to hold a sledgehammer at the end of the handle, hammer at the top and straight out at arms length, then slowly lower the hammer with just my wrist keeping the arm straight until the hammer head was touching my nose. Then slowly raise it back up again. I may still be able to do that one but I don't think I will try. I have won a lot of bets with that one. Not only that but I got to watch the losers break their noses in the process.
Damn, I hate getting old.

Floyd: Have you noticed the guy selling the 524 covers on Ebay has raised his price?
I ended up using a $30 small radio cover that does the job for me.

I did, I did, I noticed !! $90 flippin dollars. I was not being very active at it, but had been in negotiation with him for a quantity, but now will settle for a pair I'll have my daughter bring back with her from Italy next summer. Why is all our good stuff sold off overseas, and we pay the postage to mail it all back?

Re: R-442 Radio Receiver Cover $5.99 NOS
I've got a few of those in the past. They are new in the box.
I have known the owner for several years. Nicest guy around. He has a pretty neat store, stereotypical of old surplus stores, the farther you walk back towards the rear of the store, the better the stuff gets. He has more stuff than he knows. He has buckets of mil-spec bolts, hardware, etc. Not just the ammo cans and worn out gear many other surplus stores have. In the middle of his store he has a scout car plus a few other GI rigs.
One thing I did notice he had, was a billion rubber mounts for old radio setups. (Also Gama Goat chains-you don't see those everywhere!)
