M416 Restoration part 1, disassemble.

Unread post by Mr. Recovery » January 9th, 2010, 5:25 pm

I started the tear down this morning, I am glad I took the time to spray all the nuts and bolts last week with PB Blaster. :) I took the fenders off 1st. 5 bolts each, took about 10 minutes, then 8 bolts holding the tub to the frame, 3 across the back, 3 down the center of the underside and 1 on each side at the front corner, took about 20 minutes. So, 30 minutes and the tub was on the floor :D 8)

Good thing you have a motorcycle, it looks like you have a lot of projects in work.

TIME!! I have nothing but time, due to being here alone most of the time I have very few interruption's except for those days when " My phone don't ring" and I know it's Ralph calling!  the 67 Camaro is my Nephew's that I am helping him with, The Honda is my Son's that I brought down from Baltimore after Thanksgiving to work on for him over the winter, so, right now "I" only have 2 projects.

Well I found some free "time" today and finished the tear down into 3 groups, Axle, Frame, and Tub,

I would like to note here that one, and "only one" of the rear shackle bolts had left hand threads on one, and "only one" of it's fingers. :?

Harley tool kit - one pair vice grips, one adjustable wrench, one medium hammer and one screwdriver.
Pretty much the same kit for BSA and Triumph with the addition of an impact driver.

Can sleeves are for wussies! A die hard Harley man will never let a beer sit long enough to get warm, No sleeves needed.
