That's not an early hood it is a late production A2 hood. They reintoduced the third rib on them.

the A2 hoods with the third rib were for the radio jeeps. The radio guys routinely stood on the hoods etc.

Rainman was a radio guy but I am not sure that was what he was using the hood for.  Maybe he was the impetus for them changing back to three ribs?

Hey guys
I'll take credit for that modification in the later model radio jeeps. 8) I'd elaborate, but this is a hijacked post.

Almost exactly like it Ralph,
way too many similarities to list,

sharp claws CHECK
bad hair days CHECK
nasty attitudes CHECK
both can smell fear CHECK
fortune to feed CHECK
love of fur coats CHECK
bad breath in the AM CHECK

Guess when it's over and I'm all beat up and bruised,
the bear would at least let me keep my house. :D
Sounds pretty good now, don't it Top?

Hey Top, I wondered who and how someone would answer my post. I was at Cam Rhan Bay 69-70 and yes I really knew the answer. I thought the question would turn some cranks. Thanks for serving. Bill
