USMC M151s

Unread post by salt6 » November 11th, 2010, 11:50 pm

During my heater install I have yet to drill a hole. I can tell that the holes for the windshield data plate has never been used. Would the marines pre-drill all these hole or am I just lucky to get a vehicle that had a heater?

Yes this is a Marine M151A2.

My USMC A2 does not have heater holes predrilled but it did have the holes predrilled for the fording kit.

I believe most asseccories (heater kits, fording kits, ect,) were removed when the vehicles were surplused out. Some plates, especially on 'a2's were riveted on. The heads were probably drilled off (the plate would protect the dash) and the rivet pushed through to release the plate, hence no screw thread marks, or other visible damage. Mine (non USMC) was also "pre-drilled" for the heater, in this manner, but the dash plate was still there. Everything else was removed. (Now replaced.) :D
